Specific Skills Required : Have love of gardening and take pride in their work. Be able to tell the difference between a plant and a weed! (volunteers will need to look after and nurture the garden, planting new plants and weeding regularly).

The ‘Friends of Wigan Wallgate’ station adoption group are looking for volunteers to join an ongoing gardening project based at Wigan Wallgate station.

The ‘Wigan Wallflowers’ have been working to improve the appearance of the station since 2017. The group is currently led by volunteer and gardening enthusiast John Parry, who has dedicated a lot of time and effort into the project, but more help is currently needed. All work is fully risk assessed and undertaken in partnership with Northern Rail, Transport for Greater Manchester, Wigan Council, Community Rail Network, and other various local charities and groups. The ‘Friends of Wigan Wallgate’ welcomes new people from all ages and backgrounds, and is a not for profit organisation.
